Angie The Choice: Pandan Chiffon Cake

Mom knows I love pandan chiffon cake, and we usually go for Bengawan's because it is in our opinion the best. When she passed by a pandan cake from Angie The Choice though, she was intrigued by the label which advises refrigeration at 0 to 4 degrees celcius. So she decided to buy one for us to try.

Here are pictures of two separate slices.

You can probably tell from the pictures that the Angie The Choice's chiffon cake was very airy and light. There was even a huge hole in the first picture (which... actually I do not really think chiffon cakes are supposed to have). However Angie's chiffon cake just did not have the kind of cotton-wool texture that Bengawan's pandan chiffon cake has. Its texture was more like that of Ma Lai Gao (Malay Steamed Cake) with a bit of pandan flavouring. I would have liked a stronger pandan taste.

Overall I think that Angie The Choice's chiffon cake is just average. Bengawan Solo's pandan chiffon cake definitely still reigns supreme.
