Quick Food

Every week or so, a thread appears on the exercise forums I visit asking for help on nutrition. Might be a college student with no cooking facilities, a working professional with no time to cook, or someone who is always on the road.

One of the quickest ways to get a Paleo meal is to pop into a supermarket for a rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad.

This black pepper family-sized chicken is from Cold Storage and costs S$12.50. Its meat, including the breast, was moist, flavourful and tender, and the chicken was not very oily. A smaller sized chicken costs S$8.50 and can last me two to three meals. The unwashed butterhead lettuce in the background costs less than S$4.
In the US, a rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods should cost US$9.99. At Safeway it should cost $5.99. Whole Foods' chicken was a clear winner as Safeway's was quite oily and fatty in comparison.

In Australia, a rotisserie chicken from Woolworths should cost AU$9.88. At Coles it should cost AU$10 (and closer to closing it can drop to AU$4). They are not too far apart in terms of taste, but I prefer Coles' chicken as Woolworths' is a bit soggy.
