Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

It had been awhile since I finished my Artisana coconut oil, and I thought it was time for another jar since coconut oil is so highly beneficial to the body. Choosing another brand to try was not a difficult choice. I knew that I wanted to try Nutiva's coconut oil, as over the years many acquaintances had praised its taste. Further, the plastic container that Nutiva's coconut oil is packaged in does not contain BPA (see Nutiva's FAQ).

According to the label and the Nutiva website, Nutiva's coconut oil is organic and non-GMO. It is cold-pressed, i.e. not refined, deodorized or bleached, so that it retains its nutrients and delicate fats. If you wish to reduce the coconut flavour, adding a pinch of salt.

What was inside the jar was clear oil. I could not see any specks or dirt. Like Artisana, the oil emitted a coconutty aroma, but had only a real mild coconutty taste. If it came down to a taste test between Nutiva and Artisana, I do not think I would be able to tell the difference. And both definitely taste better than Jarrow.

I used Nutiva's coconut oil to stirfry my afternoon snack of cabbage with garlic and chilli, and added another dollop of fresh chilli padi on top. It was delicious, and I could hardly detect any coconutty taste. Perfect for me, as strong coconutty aromas make me nauseous. (In fact, I have read that any coconut oil with a strong flavour or aroma is either poor quality or rancid.)
